Keegan Horack, PT, DPT, CSCS
Keegan is a physical therapist specializing in sports medicine and excels in treating athletes requiring jumping, cutting, pivoting, throwing and running in their sports. This includes athletes playing football, basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, track and field, lacrosse, and can be applied to many other sports. He treats both surgical and non-surgical patients. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in the Quad Cities, which greatly benefits his patients who are wanting to return to weight lifting and working out. He grew up in Chillicothe, IL playing football, basketball, and baseball for 4 years in high school. He played 4 years of collegiate lacrosse at Augustana College while receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology/pre-physical therapy, and then received his doctorate in physical therapy at St. Ambrose University. He currently remains active in the sports community around the Quad Cities and has found a love for hiking, fishing, and camping in his free time. He believes in patient-centered care and focuses on developing lasting relationships and strategies to sustain healthy athletic careers and lifestyles for his patients.

Rusty Plunkett, PT, DPT
Rusty is a physical therapist practicing in and around the Quad Cities Area at 3 separate locations: Genesis PT and Sports Medicine — 53rd St location, Genesis PT and Sports Medicine — Bettendorf (TBK), and in Aledo, IL. He treats general orthopedic injuries with a passion for treating the overhead athlete such as baseball players. He is also certified in dry needling. Ellen Wendling, PT, DPT, OCS, CMT
Ellen is a physical therapist specializing in dance medicine. She is board certified in orthopedics, and is passionate about working with dancers, cheerleaders, gymnasts, and other performing artists. She has been a part of the competitive dance world her entire life including 18+ years of studio training, competing with the nationally ranked St. Ambrose Dance Team, and is currently a part of the St. Ambrose Dance Team coaching staff. She is a part of multiple international dance medicine professional organizations including the International Association of Dance Medicine Specialists (IADMS) and Doctors for Dancers (DFD). Her ultimate goal is to create a safe environment for dancers to rehab and train. Kyle Hoffman LAT, ATC, CSCS
Kyle is entering his seventh year as the Athletic Trainer for Rock Island High School. Kyle is a graduate of Orion High School and Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. After graduating college in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts, Kyle began working for Genesis Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. He works closely with physicians and physical therapists to ensure the best treatment for all sports-related injuries and illnesses. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, especially football, golf, and baseball.

“I enjoy being able to combine my love of sports and passion for helping people recover from injury to best meet the needs of each one of my patients. As the clinic supervisor at our clinic at Augustana College in Rock Island, I have the unique opportunity to work with athletes every day at both the high school and college level. Specializing in ACL rehabilitation, lower body injuries, and post-surgical care, I have a special interest in working with soccer players as I also serve as a soccer coach within our community. I am certified in blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy and currently serve as the chair of the Genesis Sports Rehab steering committee.”

Zach Thompson, PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS
Zach is a physical therapist specializing in treatment of a wide variety of athletes recovering from injury or surgery. This includes athletes involved in football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, track & field, baseball, softball, swimming, gymnastics, golf and weight lifting. His special interests include treating vestibular dysfunctions and concussions.
Zach grew up in Wilton, IA where he was active in football, basketball, track and baseball all four years. He studied athletic training at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA and worked with the athletes from Coe’s various athletic teams as well as the hockey players from the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. He graduated cum laude from Coe with his bachelor’s in athletic training in 2012. He worked as a certified athletic trainer (ATC) during graduate school and served the communities of West Liberty, Wilton and Durant in Eastern Iowa. He earned his doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) from the University of Iowa in 2014. He has gone on to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS); and he believes in a fitness forward approach to physical therapy practice. In his free time he is active in slow pitch softball, pick-up basketball and the occasional round of golf.

Brooke Foster, PT, DPT, OCS, CMT
Brooke is a physical therapist specialized in treating orthopedic and sports medicine injuries, both surgical and non-surgical. She received her doctorate in physical therapy and later completed an orthopedic residency through St. Ambrose University, becoming a board certified orthopedic specialist with a certification in manual therapy. She enjoys treating all types of athletes at all stages of life – from little league to weekend warriors. She became a physical therapist because she values the importance of exercise and movement in our daily lives and getting patients back to the activities they enjoy.

Concussion Rehabilitation
Our Genesis Sports Medicine Team is the only group in the area that provides a continuum of care that consists of athletic trainers recognizing the concussion on the sidelines, a sports medicine physician (Dr. Kelly Krei) to determine most appropriate course of rehabilitation or psychological therapy needed, and rehabilitation therapy specialists to progressively provide neurological and physical stimulus until the individual is ready to return to sport/work/school.
